An elephant celebration has commenced in Sauraha of Chitwan today with a view to boosting up nearby tourism.
The celebration, went for dragging out remain of vacationers in the town, is sorted out harmonizing with Christmas and the English New Year, as per Regional Hotel Association, Chitwan, the occasion coordinator.
The celebration started with the eye-getting parade of festooned elephants that began from the eastern division of the Chitwan National Park and went through Sauraha. A Tharu social rally was additionally the part of the inaugural session of the celebration.
The nine different projects including elephant 'quick walk' competition, elephant Polo, a football coordinate among elephant calves, truck race, elephant painting, excursion for elephants, a social program and a vessel riding rivalry are the parts of the celebration, Association Secretary Rammani Khanal said.
The celebration is the congruity of the Elephant Race Tournament that used to be held in Sauraha 12 years back.
